What to Bring during Move-in

Your Residence Hall Packing Guide

Welcome to the University Residences community! As you prepare to start your journey as a Boilermaker, it’s important to know what is provided in your room and what you should bring.

Use the information below as a guideline and choose what is essential for you. If you have a roommate, we recommend that you communicate with them to find what’s best for your shared space.

Items Provided by University Residences:

• Bed
• Mattress
• Curtains (that must stay in place)
• Desk with chair and lamp
• Dresser
• Trash can
• Smoke detector
• Closet and drawer space
• All utilities
• Internet outlets

Items you may want to bring with you:

• Alarm clock
• Laundry basket
• Pillow, bed linens and blanket (not electric) for a twin bed - 36" x 78"
• Umbrella
• First aid kit
• Bathrobe
• Toiletries
• Fan
• Towels and wash cloths
• Flashlight

Items you may NOT bring with you:

• Candles, incense or anything else you would burn
• Electric bed warmers
• Empty alcohol bottles for decoration
• Fireworks
• Grills
• Halogen lamps
• Hoverboards
• Paintball guns
• Pets (except small fish)
• Portable AC units
• Toaster ovens or any cooking equipment other than a small microwave oven (for residence halls)
• Third-party bed lofts as University Residences does not permit any loft product other than Bedloft

Hilltop Apartment Appliance Policy

Residents living in Hilltop Apartments housing are allowed to bring select appliances for kitchens in their units. Please see the list below to see what is and is not permitted.

The following appliances are permitted in your apartment:

• Blender
• Microwave
• Rice Cooker
• Toaster
• Coffee Maker
• Water Pot/Hot Pot
• George Foreman Grill
• Crockpot

The following appliances are NOT permitted in your apartment:

• Hot Plates and Burner Plates
• Candle/Wax Warmers
• Portable Washers
• Electric Woks
• Toaster Ovens
• Space Heaters
• Halogen Lamps
• Pizza Ovens and Pizza Bakers
• Electric Blankets
• Electric Skillets
• Plug-in Air Fresheners
• Indoor Grills
